On days when I just need a break from the city noise, I go for a walk. Today, I want to share a perfect afternoon with you—starting from the busy streets of Dongdaemun, following a centuries-old fortress wall, and ending up at my new secret hideout tucked perfectly among the trees. Ready to take a walk with me?

It always amazes me how you can find such a quiet, historic fortress path right in the middle of a massive city.

But it’s not just history up here. As you hike up, you'll stumble upon eye-catching floral murals and some unexpectedly hip buildings giving off total retro California vibes.

And as you get a little higher, the panoramic skyline of Seoul and N Seoul Tower comes into full view. It’s one of those moments where you just have to stop and take a deep breath.

Once you reach the edge of Naksan Park at the end of the walk, you hit the highlight of the day. This is Cafe Theham 186, a cozy sanctuary that feels like it’s completely absorbed by the forest.

This is exactly the kind of flawless "indoor-outdoor flow" I love. With the massive bifold doors wide open, you can be sitting by a gorgeous wall-to-wall library inside, but still feel like your feet are resting on the fallen forest leaves outside.

Of course, every good hike deserves a sweet reward. I grabbed a creamy Black Sesame Latte, a rich Blueberry Smoothie, and picked up a cute, chewy marshmallow cereal cookie from the counter to recharge.

Finally, heading up to the rooftop terrace feels like floating in the tree canopy. Looking out over the sturdy metal railings, the view of the dense forest floor and the quiet Jangsu Village below is more peaceful than any high-rise observation deck.

If you’re ever looking for a little pocket of nature to escape the hustle and bustle of Seoul, make sure to save this route!
